You prefered sendmail I read here, but can I use qmail or another mta?

would it be possible to provide a possibility to disable the mail part completly?

(if it helps, we are using qmail and vpopmail, but maybe a very generic mail-api could be provided, were one could plug in every mta, this would be fabolous!)
