Change Exim and Dovecot to Postfix and Courier

Hi!

I'm new from Hungary. A can't speak very goog English, sorry.

We have five servers and we planned to change this server's ISP softwares to the Ispcontrol.
But we will use Postfix (SMTP) and Courier (POP3/IMAP) with Maildir support.
Can somebody write for me in a few lines how to change the Exim and Dovecot to Postfix and Courier - with maildir?

We using some special scripts and modules with postfix at moment and we will use this in the future also.
My users usually use IMAP protocoll they are stored own e-mails on the servers. We can easy migrate this e-mails to the ISPControl system - similar copy if we have Courier with maildir mode.

Sorry for my bad English.
Thanks for every support!

Automatic script for the migration does not exist. You will need to re-create mailboxes in a ISPmanager. ISPmanager + Dovecot support work with MailDir, for this there is a configuration option Option MailDir in its configuration file.
However, support for the maildir in the MTA and Dovecot you need to configure it manually.

Thank you the answer.

I have an old server old ISP control software it has existing domains and e-mail boxes width e-mails in Courier maildir format.
I have a new server with ISPManager ISP control software with Dovecot.
For example:
I have on the old server example.com domain and user@example.com e-mail box with e-mails stored in Courier maildir format.
I create also on the new server the example.com domain and user@example.com e-mail box.
Then I will copy user@example.com messages from old server to the new server for user user@example.com maildir directory?
Is this a good solution to move e-mails from old to the new server?

Other: The Courier maildir format compatible with Dovecot maildir format?

Thanks!

I think yes, but check also manuls of Dovecot and Courier.
And you support for the maildir in the MTA and Dovecot you need to configure it manually or wait for next release.

Hi!

I'm again :)

I plan to change the Exim MTA to the Postfix on a working server.
I found this link: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php...r#MTA:_Postfix
But I haven't this files:
virtual_alias_domains = /etc/postfix/ispmgr/local-host-names
virtual_alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/ispmgr/virtusertable
smtp_generic_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/ispmgr/generic
alias_maps = hash:/etc/postfix/ispmgr/aliases

I think I need to create them after a fresh install and everything working fine.
But I have working servers with Exim and I think I must be migrate from the Exim files to Postfix.

Simply, how can I switch from Exim to Postfix?

Thanks,
Mono

Hello, you can reinstall MTA in the Applications menu, but if you change MTA you must re-create maildomains and mailboxes in ISPmanager, because configuration files and email data will not be converted

Dear Slava,

Thanks your answer.
The user e-mails will be remains in the original locations?
If I recreate all mail domains and mailboxes the users can access to the old e-mails?

Thanks!

Email data will not deleted, but email locations for postfix and exim are different and users will have no access to old emails. Exim store emails in the maildir format in email folder in user's home directory, postfix in /var/mail/virtuser_* mbox file and in the email folder in user home IMAP folders (with virtuser_* owner rights)
