Snapshots and storage

I was wondering, what types of storages/file systems support snapshots currently?

Snapshots is available for QCoW2 storage only.

As far as QCoW2 goes, it is much less effective than LVM, as it reduces pruductivity significantly.

Is there a particular reason why you guys decided to go with QCoW2?
Any other advantages/disadvantages to this anyone can suggest?

One of the main important advantages of QCoW2 is snapshots support.
Actually we are going to do snapshots for lvm also. But it is rather difficult. That is why this feature is not released yet.
